Last week I was at the grocery store and they had a buy one get one free sale on HUGE bottles of olive oil.  I use a lot of olive oil but had no idea what I would do with quite so much.  I started looking for uses for olive oil for beauty purposes and was surprised at how many I found.  Sure, there are a ton of health benefits of olive oil when you include it in your diet.  And improved health often means a healthier 'glow' to our skin and a vibrancy that can't be achieved with vitamins and supplements.  But, if you find yourself with a ton of olive oil, here are a few uses for olive oil for beauty that you might find helpful!

Makeup Remover:  Add a touch of olive oil to a cotton ball and wipe gently over your lips, eyes, or cheeks to remove your makeup.  It is much more gentle and natural than most traditional makeup removers.

Face washing:  Washing your face with oil seems a bit counter-intuitive, right?  The oil cleansing method is based on the idea that ‘good’ oil dissolves ‘bad’ oil without stripping the face of its natural oils.  It is becoming quite popular!  Spread 1 tbsp. of olive oil all over your face. Wipe it off with a hot steaming washcloth. Your face will feel clean without feeling tight or dry.

Exfoliating skin scrubs:  Mix 1 cup of  olive oil with 1 cup Epsom salts. Add a few drops of essential oil. During your shower, rub some of it over your body for a stimulating exfoliation.  Rinse your skin with warm water and pat dry.

Natural perfumes:  Most perfume is full of some fairly nasty ingredients and can be very overpowering.  Mix a few drops of your favorite essential oils into a tablespoon of olive oil. Rub a bit on your skin for your own signature scent! Place your natural perfume in a small roller bottle (affiliate link!) (preferably not clear to protect from light) and roll on your wrist whenever you need a pick me  up!

Conditioner: If your hair is dry, hair conditioning is one of the many uses for olive oil for beauty routines.  Use only occasionally for soft, revitalized hair. Rub warm olive oil into your hair and let it soak in, then shampoo thoroughly.

Leg Shaving:  Replace your expensive shaving cream with olive oil.  Just rub a few drops on your leg and start shaving.  Be careful you don't slip in the shower, though!

Clean your makeup brushes: Combine one part olive oil with two parts antibacterial soap on a plate. Swirl your makeup brushes into the mixture gently.  A residue will start coming off right away. Rinse them in warm water and let them dry. The soap acts as the detergent while the olive oil keeps the brush hairs soft.

Foot care:  Rub olive oil over your heels to soften them and prevent cracks and calluses.

There are so many uses for olive oil for beauty routines that you really should stock up the next time you see a good sale!  Not only is it much more inexpensive than most commercial beauty products on the market today, it is also much more natural!
