This cranberry sauce recipe was inspired by a product I received at no charge to review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
When I was growing up, cranberry sauce was a staple at our Thanksgiving Day feast. It was a slightly tube shaped, gelatinous thing that plopped out of a can and onto a plate. My mom was a great cook but for some reason, cranberry sauce was not something she ever considered making from scratch. Fast forward many years and I, too, always serve cranberry sauce with my turkey on Thanksgiving. However, unlike my mom, I have discovered how incredibly easy it is to make from scratch! Honestly, if you need to bring a dish to a Thanksgiving potluck dinner, you need to try making cranberry sauce from scratch. It will be finished in no time and people will be totally impressed that it did not come out of a can! Usually when I make my homemade cranberry sauce I just add a bit of water, sugar and orange zest but this time I got creative with Wyman's blueberries!
Wyman's of Maine offers a number of different types of frozen fruits. Their wild blueberries are smaller and more flavorful than the cultivated kind you are probably used to. And blueberries are loaded with antioxidants, too. Wyman's blueberries come in a resealable bag so you can take out a cupful for pancakes or smoothies and put it back in the freezer, no thawing required. They are frozen right at the peak of freshness with no sugar or anything else added. This cranberry sauce with blueberries recipe takes only 15 minutes to make and will be the perfect side dish for your Thanksgiving meal. Check out the Wyman's recipe page if you want more inspiration on how to use their products!
