When my kids were little, I stayed at home with them. All day. EVERY day. I spent hours cooking for them, cleaning up after them and trying to convince them to wear pants.  Some days I was successful.  Other days, it was just too much to hope for.  No matter how much time I spent with them, all I heard was 'When is daddy getting home?' Really kid?  What is mom, chopped liver?  But, of course, dad is FUN.  Sure, he's a responsible guy and works a steady job.  But when he gets home, his job is to play with the kids.  When I first saw the trailer for Daddy’s Home, in theaters everywhere Christmas day, I knew I could totally relate to this movie!

Daddy's Home

I remember the day I came home to find my ceiling fan broken. It still twirled okay, but the lonely, bare bulb was missing its' pretty glass bowl.  I went in search of my conspicuously absent family.  The guilty look said it all and I wasn't surprised that dad was the culprit.  The kids insisted that they TRIED telling dad that playing with the light saber in the bedroom wasn't a good idea but he wouldn't listen.  Hmmmm.  Not sure I believe that...they have been known to egg him on occasionally!  Not that he needed much encouragement to practice his Jedi knight skills on my helpless light fixtures.

Broken Light Fixture

I STILL haven't replaced that ceiling fan.  It's a good reminder to my husband to think twice before whipping out his lightsaber in the house!  Think you can understand daddies behaving badly?! Then Daddy's Home is the perfect movie for you and the whole family! Daddy’s Home stars Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg. Farrell plays a mild-mannered radio executive strives to become the best step dad to his wife's two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Mark Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

My mother asked my brother how is the turkey. After a minute he said it was dry. After that my mother never again cooked for thanksgiving.

When I was a kid in the 70's my hair was notoriously knotty, and on the mornings my Mom could catch me she would force the brush through my hair. One Christmas my parents were nice enough to buy an electric hair detangler comb for me. Not exactly the funnest present but they tried.

I can see where that would not be a very fun gift!
