So, what are Steelbooks? Why exactly do you want to own one if you already saw the movie in the theater? Collectible Steelbooks are a big thing with avid movie fans. A Steelbook is a limited edition collectible version of a movie or video game. It comes packaged in a premium metal case, usually with special artwork that makes it unique.
Most Steelbooks are produced in very limited quantities, which makes them collectors items. Steelbooks for movie collectors are like rookie cards for baseball card fans. More precious than gold! Because they are in high demand, collectible Steelbooks often have to be pre-ordered. Luckily, pre-ordering steelbooks at Best Buy is easy so you don’t risk losing out on a limited edition movie!
Should you open Steelbooks or leave them sealed? Well, there is a ton of discussion about that in online Steelbook discussion forums. If you are collecting them for strictly monetary value, sealed Steelbooks may be worth more down the line. However, collecting Steelbooks isn’t just about the money. It’s about the enjoyment of the movie and the artwork, which you can’t do if you don’t open it!
