Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe and Paleo Diet Approved Taco Wraps

I received a copy of The DIY Pantry: 30 Minutes to Healthy, Homemade Food to facilitate my homemade taco seasoning recipe creation but all opinions expressed are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

The seasoning isle in the grocery store is one of my favorite isles to shop in.  I have a weakness for spices, sauces, and rubs to help spice up my meals and bring a little excitement to our food.  You can totally change a meal just by switching the types of seasoning you use!  One thing you have to be careful of when buying sauces and premade flavor packages is the addition of 'extra' ingredients you may not really want to be eating.  MSG, anti caking agents, artificial flavors and colors, etc.  I was thrilled to received a copy of The DIY Pantry: 30 Minutes to Healthy, Homemade Food to review and was really impressed with the recipe selection.  (check out my review for more info!) This recipe for homemade taco seasoning was absolutely amazing!  It tastes exactly like taco seasoning you buy in the envelopes at the grocery store.  And I know EXACTLY what is in there!  Here is the homemade taco seasoning recipe from the cookbook and below the recipe you will find directions on how to make a paleo diet approved taco wrap.    (I would start with 2 tsp of seasoning for a pound of ground beef and adjust to taste as needed!)

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Yield: approx. ½ cup

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Easy way to add flavor without the added artificial ingredients found in store bought varieties!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup chili powder
  • 1 TBSP garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 TBSP dried oregano
  • 1 TBSP smoked paprika
  • 3 TBSP ground cumin
  • 1 TBSP sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Store in airtight container for up to 6 months.

Paleo Diet Approved Taco Wraps

Saute ½ ground beef with 1 to 2 tsp homemade taco seasoning.

Chop tomato, onion, and green bell pepper into small bite sized pieces

Fill lettuce leaf with cooked meat and fresh veggies

    Thanks for this recipe. Taco seasoning is one thing that's hard to get internationally.
