Many thanks to Depened for sponsoring today’s discussion about light bladder leakage and encouraging people to #dropyourpants for #underwareness.

I worked in a retail pharmacy for 15 years and during that time I learned quite a bit about my patients.  I learned which kids suffered from asthma and which ones needed allergy medicine every month.  I saw middle aged men on blood pressure medicine and elderly women taking calcium supplements.  I also came across a LOT of people during those 15 year who suffered from light bladder leakage.  They didn't ever come right out and say those words but I would see them standing in the bladder control product isle trying to decide what to buy.  Light bladder leakage is an issue that a lot of people face, even if they don't like to admit it.  And you know what I learned about the people who suffer from light bladder leakage?  They are NOT necessarily old!  They are middle aged and active, needing just a little bit of protection for those moments when their bladder is just a tad bit weak.

Supporting Light Bladder Leakage Research!

Why is my dog standing around in boxer shorts?  It certainly isn't because she is fashion conscious I can tell you that! She was a might confused as to why I was putting clothes on her today!  However, there is a reason behind this madness!  In an effort to help people overcome their bladder problems, Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million, over the next three years to charities that advance the research, education and awareness of bladder leakage.  My dog and I are doing our part to raise money for this important cause and YOU CAN TOO!  How can you help?  :

-Every pant drop photo and video shared Using #Underwareness and #DropYourPants; will raise $1
-Every personal video made about what Underwareness means to you that is uploaded to YouTube and tagged #Underwareness and #DropYourPants will also raise $1

So start snapping those photos!  And if you want to get a free sample of Depend undergarments just scroll to the bottom of the post for more info!

Depend for light bladder leakage

When I started asking around amongst my friends I was surprised to find out that a few of them were already starting to suffer from light bladder leakage and we are only in our early 40s!  Since I have already started experiencing the 'pee when you sneeze' phenomena occasionally, I know that one day in my future I will be shopping in the bladder control isle for myself!  I asked my friend a few questions about her experience with light bladder leakage and this is what she had to say (and no, she isn't quite this cool but she did want to remain anonymous!)

• When did you first experience bladder leakage?

I started experiencing light bladder leakage in my mid twenties after the birth of my first child.
• How did you go about finding solutions for protection?
At first I tried to ignore it. When it didn't go away, I started using panty liners to help with the problem but didn't really feel like they were doing the job.
• What feelings did you have when you realized you have bladder leakage?
I was embarrassed and frustrated. It made me feel older than I wanted to feel and stressed out with all of the added responsibilities I was already dealing with having a new baby.
• Do you have any tips or advice for others experiencing bladder leakage?
My best advice would be to not be embarrassed. It's something a lot of women deal with - not just older women.
