I have a horrible sweet tooth and most days I find myself hunting in my pantry for something sweet to eat. I am currently being tempted by the 8 boxes of Girl Scout cookies I bought from my Girl Scout daughter. Not exactly the healthiest choice, right? I have been scouring the interwebs looking for healthy snack recipes that will satisfy my sweet tooth. If I don't find a healthy snack recipe, my family may just come home to find me in a Girl Scout cookie sugar coma! I stumbled across these chocolate dipped clementines and decided that they looked like the perfect balance between sweet and healthy.
Chocolate dipped clementines are incredibly simple to make and require only 3 ingredients. We almost always have clementines in my house because my children inhale them at an alarming rate. A 3 pound bag of those little buggers usually only lasts a few days. I can guarantee that the chocolate dipped ones will disappear even faster!
To make chocolate dipped clementines you simply need a few clementines, some good quality dark chocolate and a few pinches of a course sea salt. The salt is really optional but it not only looks pretty but also gives your chocolate dipped clementines a nice balance of 'sweet' versus 'salty'. The sweet/salty combination is a popular one lately as evidenced by all the salted caramel things and the popularity of chocolate covered pretzels. Try some with salt and some without and decide which one you prefer. Use a good quality dark chocolate for the best results!
