This DIY Blog Cabin post has been sponsored however all opinions expressed here are my own.

Many years ago, my parent bought an extremely old Victorian style home that was in serious need of repair.  As in, my mother did not want to sleep in the house until my dad got the ceilings back where they belonged.  Over the years, they have replaced not only the ceilings but also renovated just about every other part of the house as well.  You would never know today that this house was in such bad shape when it was first purchased.  When I take a wander around the house with my dad, he loves telling stories about how he repaired this or that part  of the house.  I find it fascinating and am honestly in awe of how he accomplished everything.  I have always wanted to be more of a home repair type person but lack the skills needed to really do it myself.

Have you ever dreamed up your perfect home?  Do you sit around staring at your floor plan and wonder what would happen if you knocked out a wall or built on an extension to a room? Have you ever dreamed of building or designing your own home from the ground up?  If you are a DIY home building sortof person, you may have already seen the DIY Network's interactive home building series called Blog Cabin.   This year, they have invited fans to design the network's 2013 vacation home getaway. Fans get to vote on key design elements such as the kitchen, master suite, color palette, fixtures, amenities and more.   You will be helping host Chris Grundy and a team of DIY Network experts transform a 1895 cottage into a modern-day coastal retreat.  In addition,  fans can also vote for a variety of home accents and housewarming gifts that will complete this year’s Blog Cabin.

DIY Blog Cabin Sweepstakes

Why should you vote?  Because voting gives you a chance to win big!  Not only do viewers get a chance to win the ultimate grand prize – a coastal beach retreat – but fans can also cast their votes now for a chance to win matching amenities in the 'Cabin Comforts' Sweepstakes. Here are a few details about the contest:

Before fans can enter to win the fully-renovated beachfront property this summer, DIY Network is also offering a chance to win an identical selection of the winning housewarming gifts with its second "Cabin Comforts" Sweepstakes. Through Thursday, May 16, viewers can vote up to 10 times per day for all interior design elements, soft goods and amenities featured in the bathroom, bedroom and party areas. The "Cabin Comforts" voting includes:

Round 1 (April 4-17): Vote on warm and cozy bathroom comforts like slippers, spa brushes, bath mats, planters and more.
Round 2 (April 18-May 1): Select functional and relaxing bathroom accents, including a blanket, step stool, storage container and scented candles.
Round 3 (May 2-16): Choose coastal entertaining items, such as beverage containers, serving ware and outdoor speakers and stereo system, to enhance the home’s social gathering spots.

The seventh season of Blog Cabin  debuts on Monday, July 29 at 9:30 p.m. ET Remember, in addition to voting online for the home’s unique renovation elements and entering the “Cabin Comforts” Sweepstakes, viewers can also enter the “2013 Blog Cabin” Sweepstakes for a chance to win this beachfront property on the DIY Network from Monday, July 29 to Friday, Sept. 13.

I love these DIY shows! I have been trying to get into more home projects like this, I even painted over paneling in one of my rooms. That was a big feat for me!
