I spend a lot of time in the 'healthy and natural' section of the grocery store. This is good for my health but not always good for my wallet. I tend to spend an awful lot of money on groceries when I really need to be making some of these things from scratch. Protein bars are a great way to boost energy after a workout or fill up a hungry teenager after a busy day at school. Even starting your morning with a protein bar for breakfast is an easy choice to make for better health. While I have made homemade granola bars several times, I have never experimented with adding additional protein. I lucked out at the grocery store last week and hit the organic isle just as the Kroger employee was marking down the almond butter to 50% off! Lucky me! Almond butter isn't cheap but it is a huge favorite with my family. In addition to the almond butter, I made these high protein snacks with Premier Protein vanilla shake instead of regular milk.
Premier Protein shakes are an excellent source of calcium and contain 24 vitamins and minerals.
