A few weeks ago, my husband and I were in bed on a Saturday night and it was after 11 PM. All of a sudden, our doorbell rings! We look at each other in confusion, the dog starts barking like mad and we make our way downstairs tentatively to see who is at our door at this horrible hour. Of course, it turned out to be someone just ringing the doorbell and running...most likely just teenagers but who knows. The next day, my husband comes home from work and tells me that his coworker just installed a video doorbell for safety purposes. He has his heart set on one now and wasn't I happy to see that the Best Buy Tech Home powered by Samsung Smart Things offers not only a video doorbell but a TON of other ways to make suburbia life fun, organized and SAFE.
The Best Buy Tech Home
Takes Suburban Life High Tech
If you live in the Atlanta area, I really recommend that you check out the Best Buy Tech Home at the North Lake Mall. I had a chance to go visit last weekend and was truly amazed at all the creative ways that Best Buy and the Samsung Smart Things system can work together to make your home fun, organized and safe.
The Best Buy Tech Home is set up as a miniature version of your own home. It is divided into separate areas from outdoors to your entryway and all the way into the kitchen, bedroom and beyond. Each room has it's own advisor to help show off the technology that can transform that living area into a high-tech space. I had never even thought of a lot of these high tech ideas for suburban living!
I really loved the simplest things that I had never thought about before. The entryway featured a backpack station and on those backpacks are small tags that alert your security system when your child comes home. That way, if you aren't home, you know for sure your child made it inside safely. Not to mention the video doorbell so they can see who is on the other side of the door without opening it if you aren't home! There are so many ways that this home network can keep your family safe, which is always a big concern in today's slightly crazy society.
We have already implemented a few high tech gadgets in our home, including lights that can be controlled via WiFi. You think this is unnecessary? Nope! This is an amazing gadget if you go on vacation and want someone to think there are people at home! Just head into the app and you can randomly turn on lights around the house at different times of the day. No more predictability that burglars can figure out....just YOU, on the beach, randomly turning on your living room light!
With the NetGear ARLO security camera, you can have eyes on every room of your house. Know if your kids are having a party when they shouldn't be. Keep an eye on the dog while you are at work. See the inside of your house even when you are away on a business trip. You can record as well as listen and speak via this system.
While I was definitely interested most in the security features that the Best Buy Tech Home and the Samsung Smart Things technology offered, there are a ton of fun and organizational tools that they offer as well.
From controlling your entertainment center to programmable thermostats and robotic vacuums, there are so many cool ways to organize your life at the Best Buy Tech Home.
And if you aren't a high tech wiz? No worries! The Best Buy Tech Home has their awesome Geek Squad members there to walk you through the whole house and explain everything. They were incredibly knowledgeable and answered a ton of questions.
And you know what is even better? They will send an In-Home Advisor to your home to walk you through a room by room transformation. As much or as little as you want for your own home. The In-Home Advisor will ask you about what you want to accomplish. They will then develop a personalized plan for your home and be your main point of contact for your current and future needs. No job is too big or too small!
I have my in-home visit coming up soon and will let you know how it goes in a second blog post!
