This post about preserving your family photos and other digital archiving solutions has been sponsored by Doorstep Digital.  All opinions expressed here are my own.

For the last few years, I have gotten very neglectful about printing out all the pictures I take.  I have ridiculous number of family photos on my computer and cell phone. I do have them backed up to my external hard drive, however, having only digital copies in my home makes me nervous. There are tons of old photos in my closet upstairs from when my children were babies. Digital photography was something I couldn't even hope to afford back then.  This year, preserving your family photos should be a top priority.  That way, your kids will always be able to look back at a physical image of the people who were important in their lives.  Doorstep Digital can help you not only preserve family photos but they also offer many other digital archiving solutions as well.

The Best Gift Your Can Give Your Kids on Mother's Day

When Doorstep Digital reached out to me for a collaboration, I knew exactly what I wanted to work on.  Like many moms, I am notorious for being BEHIND the camera and never actually in the photo.  I didn't want my kids to look back at family photos one day and wonder what the heck their mom looked like! How many printed photos do your children have of their mom?  Doorstep Digital helped me create a beautiful Mother's Day photo album to give to my children!

Preserving Your Family Photos

Of course, it took me HOURS of going through our photos to find about 25 pictures that actually had ME in them.  But, now that I have them all in a physical photo album, I know my kids will be able to look at them for the rest of their lives.  I really think this is the best gift you can give your children on Mother's Day!

Preserving Vital Documents and Digital Archiving Solutions

Digital Archiving is More Than Just Preserving Your Family Photos

Preserving your family photos is important, however, think about all the other vital documents you have in your home.  Birth certificates, marriage licenses, and death certificates are all susceptible to fire and flood if they are just hanging out in your filing cabinet.  My father is a genealogist.  I have heard this advice for years!  You really need to come up with digital archiving solutions that will preserve those documents for years to come.  And Doorstep Digital can help!

This is a wonderful service! So many of us have old family photos, mementos and documents we'd love to preserve. This would be something I'd run by my siblings to make a keepsake book.

A great reminder that I need to get something made for my Mom and my kids. A book is a great idea.

I've done books like this for vacations and they are so precious for keepsakes. My kids will fight over them, I'm sure!

This is a great way to preserve all those old documents. I wish some of my great, great grandparents would have had access to something like this. Just think of all the great historical documents we could have access to.

We've been backing up to an external drive (actually two) in the house, but know I should look into something offsite. Will definitely check these guys out!
