These patio upgrade ideas are part of a sponsored post for Best Buy. All opinions are my own.
When my husband and I moved into our new home, the first thing we did was have a stone patio put in. We went all out with a seating wall, fire pit, and stone steps and haven’t regretted one single penny spent on the project. Our outdoor living space is truly my favorite part of the house! We have incorporated several patio upgrades into our budget since then and there are several more that we have planned. I thought I would share a few patio design ideas for you to try this summer. Whether you want to install a water feature or mount a SunBrite Veranda Series Outdoor television from Best Buy, try a few of these patio ideas and spend more time outside!
Table of Contents
Start with Patio Decor
The right patio decor can make or break your outdoor living area. We spend a ton of time every year cleaning patio furniture and it isn’t particularly fun. Unfortunately, years ago, we inherited white patio furniture. It gets very dirty and needs constant attention. Do some research on materials and colors for your outdoor patio decor. You will save yourself a ton of time and energy, I promise.
If you need budget friendly patio upgrade ideas, you can paint old patio furniture to spruce up your patio without spending a fortune. Or, keep your eye out for sales at the send of summer. But, choose something comfortable or you won’t want to spend time outside enjoying it! If you have covered outdoor living spaces, you will have much more flexibility when it comes to the type of patio furniture you choose.
Install a Water Feature
One of the first patio upgrades my husband and I did was to install a water feature off to the side. Our backyard pond now contains several fish and water plants and creates a beautiful rushing water sound when we relax in our outdoor living area. Whether it is a small pond, a birdbath, or a trickling fountain, water features are a key element of luxurious outdoor living! It is definitely one of our favorite patio upgrade ideas since it attracts tons of wildlife.
Water Feature Ideas for Patios:
- Combine an outdoor kitchen with a water feature.
- Line your yard with a small stream.
- Include a water fountain next to a fire pit.
- Build a swimming pool.
- Add a kid-friendly splash pad.
- Build a small backyard pond.
Create an Outdoor Kitchen
Our outdoor kitchen area consists only of a grill and small table. However, we aren’t all that upscale when it comes to outdoor cooking. If you really want a luxurious outdoor cooking area, here are some things to consider before you start your patio upgrade:
- Do I need a permit to build an outdoor kitchen? Probably not for the kitchen itself, however, you probably will need permits for any electrical or plumbing work.
- Does an outdoor kitchen add value to a home? Very definitely, YES.
- What material is used for outdoor kitchen? Make sure your outdoor appliances are stainless steel to avoid rusting.
An outdoor kitchen expands your living space and allows you to cook, eat and socialize in a whole other area of your home. For multi season 24 hour use, put a roof on it and add plenty of lighting.
Add an Outdoor Television
A mounted, outdoor television is a high tech patio upgrade that the whole family can enjoy. Whether it is a Sunday afternoon football game with the guys or a sleepover party for your kids, outdoor televisions are a great way to add value to your patio.
The SunBrite Veranda Series Outdoor Television from Best Buy is a weatherproof TV built for full-shade outdoor living areas. Thep powder-coated rust-proof aluminum exterior protects internal components from rain, snow, dust, insects, humidity, and salt air. So, no matter what the local weather throws at you, your patio television can handle it!
And don’t worry… it is up to 50% brighter than indoor TVs. That means you get improved viewing in brighter outdoor environments. No more struggling to see the image when the sun is too bright!
It has a large weatherproof media bay to make cable connections easy. In addition, there is plenty of storage room for many popular media players, and thick gaskets seal out moisture and the elements. If you are looking for upscale patio design ideas, an outdoor television is a great choice!
