Its Friday night and my husband and I are already glued to food shows on TV.  I think it is an addiction, to be honest!  We love watching people create inspiring and drool worthy recipes on TV.  Of course, this usually means we end up hungry and heading for the pantry but if is our Friday night fun!  If you are as big a fan of cooking and food shows as we are you will be happy to know that the Food Network Star will be returning for a ninth season this summer!

The Food Network Star will combine some fresh, new talent with intense cooking challenges.  It will feature culinary icons like Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay as they work to discover the best and brightest new faces in food television.  The one-hour season premiere will be aired on Sunday, June 2nd at 9pm ET/PT.   Twelve contestants will arrive in Los Angeles for the biggest audition of their lives.   The goal is to discover who has the personality, on-camera charisma and kitchen chops to follow in their idols’ footsteps and lead their own show.

The Food Network Star Returns!

This season’s Food Network Star has a little bit of a twist to it!  Focus groups of Food Network fans will have a say on each contestant performance.   One finalist will be brought back after elimination for another chance at victory. Viewers will be able to vote online or via phone before the August 11th finale to determine who will win the ultimate prize: their own show on Food Network.  Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay are some of my favorite celebrity chefs and I’m sure they will make awesome mentors for this season’s Food Network Star finalists.  Of course, the finalists not only have to prove their capabilities in the kitchen but they also have to create the perfect ‘pitch’ to convince everyone why they deserve their own cooking show!  Not everyone has both cooking skills AND charisma so this should be an interesting season of Food Network Star!

Remember to tune into the premier this summer!  Sunday, June 2nd at 9pm ET/PT
