I held out for as long as I could but we finally had to turn the heat on last week.  It's no wonder that I went looking for skin moisturizing spray recipes this past weekend!  It seems like the moment I turn on the heat, my skin starts getting dry.  I am constantly slathering myself with moisturizers and am always looking for the best skin healing ingredients that I can find.  I started doing a bit of research and found that vegetable glycerin is great to keep skin moisturized. It has water binding capabilities which allow it to draw in and … [Read more...]

Creative Uses for Olive Oil for Beauty Routines

Last week I was at the grocery store and they had a buy one get one free sale on HUGE bottles of olive oil.  I use a lot of olive oil but had no idea what I would do with quite so much.  I started looking for uses for olive oil for beauty purposes and was surprised at how many I found.  Sure, there are a ton of health benefits of olive oil when you include it in your diet.  And improved health often means a healthier 'glow' to our skin and a vibrancy that can't be achieved with vitamins and supplements.  But, if you find yourself with a ton of … [Read more...]

DIY Dry Shampoo for Pretty Hair with Fewer Washes!

This DIY dry shampoo recipe is perfect hair remedy for those days when you just don't have time to shower.  My daughter is 14 and has very thick, wavy hair that she absolutely hates.  We have made homemade hair masks and tried to dip dye hair using Kool aid but still, she complains.  Well, she washes her hair, lets it air dry and then spends hours straightening it.  That means it takes her HOURS to do her hair and she just doesn't have that kind of time on a daily basis.  Her solution is to only wash her hair twice a week.  That would normally … [Read more...]

Homemade Beauty Products: Kiwi and Yogurt DIY Facial Scrub

This homemade beauty products post was inspired by a product I received to review but all opinions expressed here are my own.Last week I went to the farmer's market and bought a few kiwi...along with about 20 pounds of other assorted fresh fruit.  Yes, I went a little bit overboard and discovered that there really is a limit to the amount of fresh fruit one family can eat in a week!  I still have way too much fruit in the house and am starting to have to find creative ways to use it all before it starts going bad!  Oranges get sliced up and … [Read more...]

Cucumber Basil Sugar Scrub for Soft, Smooth Skin!

My family just got back from a week in Saint Augustine, Florida and if I thought Georgia was hot in the summer...WOW!  The heat and humidity was absolutely suffocating down there last week!  I went through 4 containers of sunscreen, put a 2 hour beach limit on all of us, and our shower in the cottage was running almost constantly.  Just walking through the historic district for a couple of hours had us soaking with sweat and slightly sun burnt!  Needless to say, between the sunscreen, the frequent showers and the low level sunburn I had all … [Read more...]
