Atlanta Bloggers Celebrate Spring with Great American Cookies! #BrownieBling

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Great American Cookies. Blogging can be a rather solitary business.  Sure, we say that we work in Social Media but usually that just means we are 'social' with people online.  Our blogging friends, followers, and fans interact with us via computer but only occasionally do we actually get to hang out with each other in person.  When bloggers DO get together with each other in person you can bet there will be food involved.  This week, I had the pleasure of hanging out with a few of my blogger friends while we tried out the NEW! Fudge Brownie made with M&M’s® from Great American Cookies! With winter finally on the way OUT and spring finally here I am starting to crave a bit more excitement in my life!  Traveling into Atlanta … [Read more...]

How to Get More Guacamole in Your Diet

How to Get More Guacamole in Your Diet

This guacamole post has been sponsored by Wholly Guacamole but all opinions expressed here are my own. As my husband and I have gotten older, we have realized that it is not quite as easy to stay healthy as it was when we were younger.  Or, maybe we just never really cared much when we were in our 20's.  A couple of decades really changes your outlook on life. Now we find ourselves looking at things like salt content and calories.  We listen to health reports on the news about what we SHOULD be eating and what we should be avoiding.  Over and over again we keep hearing about how 'good fats' are good for us.  Fewer plates full of bacon and eggs and more helpings of avocados and nuts.  Most of the fat in an avocado is in the form of oleic acid. It is considered to be a "good fat" which … [Read more...]

Easy Hot Cross Buns Recipe for Easter

When I was a kid, there were certain traditions that my family followed every year for Easter.  We would get up early on Easter morning and be greeted with a basket full of all the 'hot' Easter candy of the year.  We put on our new Easter clothes with pretty white shoes and headed off to church to learn the real reason that Easter was a special day.  Then, we headed home to my all time favorite Easter tradition:  Hot Cross Buns! My mom used to buy good old Entenmann's hot cross buns every single year and it was the only time of year that you COULD find these delicious treats! Hot cross buns are spiced, sweet buns … [Read more...]

Severe Weather Disaster Preparedness

Severe Weather Disaster Preparedness

This Severe Weather Disaster Preparedness post has been sponsored by State Farm but all opinions expressed are my own. A few years ago, I was getting dressed very early in the morning when I heard a huge crack at the same time as a bright flash of light illuminated my dark bedroom.  The house practically shook from the rolling of thunder.  I hesitated a moment and went to the blinds to glance out my front window.  To my horror, the house across the street from me was engulfed in flames!  I froze for a brief second, my mind not really believing what my eyes were seeing.  I quickly grabbed the phone and dialed 911 to notify the fire department.  Thankfully, the family made it out safely but not without losing just about everything to smoke, water and flames.  The incident has weighed … [Read more...]

My Paleo Diet Experience and Why I’m Giving it up!

My Paleo Diet Experience and Why I’m Giving it up!

If you have been following my blog for the last couple of months, you will know that I have been trying out a few diet changes to see if they help with some chronic pain issues I have been suffering from.  January had me trying to go gluten free and by February I had started my Paleo diet journey.  I stuck with the Paleo diet for 6 weeks with no improvement at all in pain symptoms.  Some people may say that isn't long enough to make a difference but I am pretty sure that if I was going to notice any changes, 6 weeks should be enough to see SOMETHING.  I saw not one iota of reduction in pain symptoms after 6 weeks.  And let me just say that I have been tested for food allergies and had every type of blood test known to man to look for nutritional deficiencies, autoimmune issues, … [Read more...]
