Have Too Many Pears? Make Caramel Vanilla Pear Sauce!

This pear sauce recipe contains affiliate links I absolutely love pears and they are one of the few fruits that I can usually find organic at my local grocery store.  Needless to say, I buy a lot of pears! A couple of weeks ago, I stocked up on pears as usual but then we had to leave town for several days for a family emergency.  Do you know how quickly pears go from 'just right' to 'way too ripe'?  Well, let me tell you, it takes only a few days!  I came home from our trip to find a basket full of very over  ripe pears sitting on my counter! I started looking for recipes for over ripe pears and came across lots of ideas for canning but that was just way too much work.  I decided to create a Crock-Pot pear sauce just like I would make with apples.  The addition of lots of brown … [Read more...]

How to Make Your Pharmacy Trip More Efficient #TargetSponsored

This post about how to make your pharmacy trip more efficient has been sponsored by Target and Social Chorus but all opinions expressed here are my own. Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target. As a pharmacy technician, I am very familiar with the running of a pharmacy.  I know which medications people take for what health problems, where the vitamin isle is located and that the pharmacist is a great source of knowledge if you have a health question.  I also see people come into the pharmacy on a regular basis who have to spend WAY more time there than they may have had to with a bit of advanced planning.  We have busy lives and increased efficiency will help hurry us on our way to our next appointment.  Here are just a few ways that you can make your pharmacy trip … [Read more...]

Shop Your Way Max There are millions of reasons to love Max. Max opens doors and carries your … [Read more...]

Easy Lime and Pineapple Fried Rice Recipe

Easy Lime and Pineapple Fried Rice Recipe

The other day I bought some fresh pineapple and left a bowl of it cut up on the counter.  Sure enough, within moments of setting it down my teenage son was there, fork in hand, eating it straight out of the bowl.  Those of you with teenage boys have probably seen how food left laying around will suddenly attract attention like ants to a picnic!  My whole family loves pineapple and I decided to whip up a sweet and spicy fried rice recipe to go with our pork spare ribs for dinner tonight.  This fried rice recipe will take only minutes to make if you cook up the rice the night before.  This comes in handy for busy weeknight meals.  You can use a can of crushed pineapple or just put chunks of fresh pineapple through the food processor for a few seconds.  This fried rice recipe uses flavors … [Read more...]

Raising Boys vs Raising Girls: Who Drives Mom More Insane?

Raising Boys vs Raising Girls: Who Drives Mom More Insane?

When I was pregnant with my first child I really wanted a boy.  I had grand dreams of my older son watching over his little sister like her own personal guardian angel. In turn, she would gaze at him adoringly and think of him as something of an idol and loving protector.  Well, I got the boy first, and 2 years later my daughter was born but all those dreams flew out the window when my son showed zero interest in her what so ever.  Over the last 14 years they have alternated between "Hey, come play with me" to "Get the hell out of my room" with a few other choice phrases thrown in for good measure.  I have discovered that there is a huge difference between raising boys vs raising girls, although I am not sure if it is a gender difference or just unique traits of each child. Both boys and … [Read more...]
