Easy Lime and Pineapple Fried Rice Recipe

Easy Lime and Pineapple Fried Rice Recipe

The other day I bought some fresh pineapple and left a bowl of it cut up on the counter.  Sure enough, within moments of setting it down my teenage son was there, fork in hand, eating it straight out of the bowl.  Those of you with teenage boys have probably seen how food left laying around will suddenly attract attention like ants to a picnic!  My whole family loves pineapple and I decided to whip up a sweet and spicy fried rice recipe to go with our pork spare ribs for dinner tonight.  This fried rice recipe will take only minutes to make if you cook up the rice the night before.  This comes in handy for busy weeknight meals.  You can use a can of crushed pineapple or just put chunks of fresh pineapple through the food processor for a few seconds.  This fried rice recipe uses flavors … [Read more...]

Raising Boys vs Raising Girls: Who Drives Mom More Insane?

Raising Boys vs Raising Girls: Who Drives Mom More Insane?

When I was pregnant with my first child I really wanted a boy.  I had grand dreams of my older son watching over his little sister like her own personal guardian angel. In turn, she would gaze at him adoringly and think of him as something of an idol and loving protector.  Well, I got the boy first, and 2 years later my daughter was born but all those dreams flew out the window when my son showed zero interest in her what so ever.  Over the last 14 years they have alternated between "Hey, come play with me" to "Get the hell out of my room" with a few other choice phrases thrown in for good measure.  I have discovered that there is a huge difference between raising boys vs raising girls, although I am not sure if it is a gender difference or just unique traits of each child. Both boys and … [Read more...]

All Natural DIY Acne Scrub Recipe

All Natural DIY Acne Scrub Recipe

A lot of things have changed since I was a teenager.  Teens today are much more knowledgeable about sex, drugs, and a lot of other things I would prefer they stay ignorant of.  They are plugged in, much more aware of current events, and for the most part a lot 'older' than I was at their age.  One thing that has NOT changed since I was a teen is the constant battle with acne.  No matter how many times they wash their face or how many times I tell them to eat less fatty foods they still struggle with acne on a regular basis.  I am spending a fortune on all natural acne products in hopes of helping them get a handle on it.  However, all natural acne products are extremely expensive!  I decided to try my hand at making an all natural acne scrub recipe to see if it would help save money while … [Read more...]

Easy Easter Dessert Recipe: Birds Nest Pudding Tarts #BunnyTrail

This Easter Dessert Recipe has been sponsored by Global Influence with products supplied by Hershey's. When I was growing up, there were certain Easter traditions that were very important to me even as a child.  Buying a pretty new Easter dress for church and slipping on those shiny white dress shoes made it obvious that Easter was not your average day at church.  Easter baskets were filled with candy that we almost NEVER got to eat.  Yes, we probably ate more jelly beans and chocolate eggs than we should have at 6 AM on Easter morning but hey, Easter was a special occasion!  A special breakfast of hot cross buns rounded out our Easter morning.  I actually made homemade hot cross buns last week because I decided there was no reason I shouldn't be able to enjoy them all year round!  One … [Read more...]

Atlanta Bloggers Celebrate Spring with Great American Cookies! #BrownieBling

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Great American Cookies. Blogging can be a rather solitary business.  Sure, we say that we work in Social Media but usually that just means we are 'social' with people online.  Our blogging friends, followers, and fans interact with us via computer but only occasionally do we actually get to hang out with each other in person.  When bloggers DO get together with each other in person you can bet there will be food involved.  This week, I had the pleasure of hanging out with a few of my blogger friends while we tried out the NEW! Fudge Brownie made with M&M’s® from Great American Cookies! With winter finally on the way OUT and spring finally here I am starting to crave a bit more excitement in my life!  Traveling into Atlanta … [Read more...]
